Have you tried in the last few years to reach Customer Service?

ANY Customer Service department in ANY company you deal with?

Some still have it, but many and increasingly more and more do NOT.

How you might ask? WHY?

The simple truth is that most companies view their own customers as pesky inconveniences except for their wallets.

Utilities including phone, electric, and gas particularly. Yes cable and satellite too.

WHY?



With the advent of the internet, companies began to realize that they could use this new technology to distance themselves from their customers and thusly, they could begin the process of de-personalizing their relationships with them. Phone or internet access is the rule today. Call Centers for the most part farmed out to contractors. In truth, it is harder to lie to and cheat people and treat them like shit when you are just across the counter from them. When you are only on the phone with them and hundreds or thousands of miles away, MUCH easier.

EXAMPLE:  I will give you a good example. Michigan Gas Utilities used to be MICHIGAN GAS UTILITIES until they sold out to a pair of crooks and their company, Aquila. After these two brothers bankrupted their company and sucked out hundreds of millions of dollars to their own pockets, Wisconsin  Gas bought what was left before they sold out to this mega utility equivalent to Bain Capital called Integrys. 16 states or so, and they contract out EVERYTHING.

ALL ROADS LEAD TO A CONTRACTED CALL CENTER IN SCOTTSBLUFF, NE. and these people have become more and more NASTY. and |TOTALLY unhelpful if you have a problem .I went after them via the MPSC in Lansing last year and that produced apologies and a letter from the PRESIDENT of MG,  Said if I had any more trouble to call her at her direct number, which when I tried was a NON-WORKING NUMBER. So much for the apologies.

THEY AND THEIR ILK HAVE THE MPSC COMPLETELY HAMSTRUNG THANKS TO THE MICHIGAN LEGISLATURE AND THEIR DE-REGULATORY KICK SINCE 2009. At least the Michigan House Republicans and their 'Let's give all the money to Wal-Mart and big oil and FUCK the bastard residents. Yup, real homey. See, they know where their campaign contributions come from. THAT is ALL they care about. Power.

Michigan residents are left to the MERCY of these bastards, and the legislature just laughs. and they KEEP laughing cause THEY KNOW. Michigan residents are too lazy, dis-engaged and stupid to fight back for the most part.

Sad. It's not just Michigan either, obviously Integrys alone is in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and over a dozen other states with the same issues and THE SAME UNCONCERN for their customers. Utility companies you see are really NOT any more. Instead of customers, these used to be non-profit utilities have convinced state after state to let them de-regulate and become FOR PROFIT companies., Their constituents are now the shareholders NOT the customers and they are two very different entities.

Every time someone in one of the asshole companies tries to give me the song and dance about there still being good CS, I point out that little fact and at that point they get icy. WHO THE FUCK CARES.. They weren't going to help me anyway.

So now it is on to the State Attorney General (I need a good laugh) and then the Federal agencies and the Justice Dept.

 This would be a lot easier en masse, but since nobody else seems to care that they are being laughed at, raped. plundered. and pillaged by these bastards, I will DO IT MYSELF.
