Let me make it clear right up front.
I am ANTI-ABORTION. Or at least I am when it is considered an option for frivolous reasons. But then,
what is frivolous? AND who am I to judge someone's motivations in a case like this?
THAT is the rub.
JUDGING OTHER'S MOTIVATIONS.
If you have seen the documentary film, 'THE SILENT SCREAM' as I have, it is chilling. That I think more than anything solidified my opinion on abortion.
BUT...
while I may be personally opposed to abortion, I do NOT feel that I am qualified to be a part of making that kind of decision for anyone else. ESPECIALLY when it is because of rape, incest, or to prevent the death of the mother.
THAT IS WAYYY ABOVE MY PAYGRADE...
GUESS WHAT! IT'S WAY ABOVE YOUR PAYGRADE TOO.
Abortion is one of those things that should be left to the decision of the woman AND her physician. NOT to RWNJ's, Ultra-conservatives, CHURCHY LADIES/anti-everything phobic nutbags, NOR to the government AT ANY LEVEL.
It is NONE OF THE GOVERNMENTS BUSINESS. NOR IS IT THE BUSINESS OF NOSY BUSYBODIES WHO HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN TO INVADE THE PRIVACY AND PERSONAL SPACE OF OTHERS IN ORDER TO PROJECT THEIR OWN MORALITY ON OTHERS.
THAT is disgusting and ANTI-CHRISTIAN to the
nth degree.
"JUDGE NOT, LEST YE BE JUDGED" is STILL a pretty good model for one's actions in the overreach of religiosity department. Why don't we just let it go at that?
BE OPPOSED, fine...but try to be a HELP to women caught in the dilemma of making the right decision when it comes to abortion...NOT just a finger-wagging moralist bigot.
REMEMBER: the CORRECT solution is one that will be in the BEST INTERESTS OF THE MOTHER, NOT the ideology of the 'moral' crusaders.
When does it make sense to be pro-life and yet say it's okay to prevent an abortion when not having one may kill BOTH the mother AND the unborn child? It DOESN'T make sense and yet...
Projecting one's own personal sense of morality upon others, BY FORCE IF NECESSARY, is in and of itself a VERY slippery slope. SO, proceed with caution if you must, because YOU may be the NEXT in line to have YOUR morality questioned...and then ATTACKED.
