No doubt. America is without question the most aggressive and almost recklessly evolved form of governance ever attempted on Earth...AND, make no mistake about it. It is still a work in progress.
WE have been trying to 'get it right' for several hundred
years, and I seriously doubt that we have succeeded fully NOR do I think we ever
will. Democracies are messy like that...BECAUSE, HUMAN BEINGS are messy like that.
You can't turn a vast country like the United States over to something well beyond 320 million people willy nilly, many of whom are conjugal misfits to start with, and expect to form A MORE PERFECT union. Well, not totally anyway. LOL.
But I do think that we got it going on better than most and while we may be a
bunch of political slobs in a sense, we make the communists and the jihadists
and the fundamentally WEIRD nut cases PALE or barf into PAIL by
comparison and you would be hard pressed to find a more DIVERGENT country
than this one.
Much of what makes America so interesting is not only is it beautiful physically, but it is so diverse. In truth, If you can't find it in America, IT DO NOT EXIST. TRUST ME.
From the mountains in the East and in the West to the Ocean shorelines it is the
same. From some of the largest and most beautiful rivers on the planet to the
stark deserts that populate much of the SW and the intermountain
west.
Again, topographical diversity as well as significant divergence amongst the peoples who make up the various regions of the country.
Then there are the cities, from New York to Los Angeles to San Francisco to Chicago and Denver and New Orleans and Detroit and Miami and Atlanta and Dallas and NO TWO OF THEM are even REMOTELY alike.
In my opinion, NO documentary or travelogue EVER PRODUCED has or ever will TRULY AND FULLY tell the story of America. From the earliest days when some of MY personal ancestors led the most significant battles in the American Revolutionary War (and American history)...we STILL as a people BELIEVE to our toesies that FREEDOM is WORTH FIGHTING FOR...and we KEEP fighting that battle for SADLY, there seems ALWAYS to be THOSE who would RULE BY FORCE and NOT extend the Freedoms we cherish to those who most deserve it. THE SAME MISFITS FILLED WITH LUST FOR POWER AND MINDLESS GREED...WHO CHOOSE TO IGNORE THE EQUALITY GUARANTEED IN OUR CONSTITUTION and the Bill of Rights.
Our ancestors, and our brethren TODAY...fought and still do.
To PRESERVE what American was founded on. The PRINCIPLES AND ROCK-SOLID HARD
CORE VALUES that formed our most imperfect but still beautiful Union of amazing
souls who only want what our founders came here to establish and then to see
their successors build upon.
FREEDOM. PERSONAL FREEDOM, MIXED AND MODULATED INSIDE A FIRM
AND PROFOUND SENSE OF COMMUNITY. NONE OF THEM EVER believed
in tossing away their friends, family, neighbors...and the earliest settlements
in New England are testament to that. These were rugged men of faith and vision
but they were also members of their respective settlements and NONE ever forgot
that.
The Continental Congress was as well, a grand experiment in
governance.
In the end, from sea to shining sea, THIS LAND OF IMMENSE WEALTH OF SPIRIT AND TRUE GRIT has stood the test of time and NO MATTER how many sickeningly ethically and morally reprehensible bastards come along who would BLOW OUT the flame of the torch that warms the coldest and weariest hearts of those who have fought from Valley Forge to Kandahar to Baghdad to Cairo to Seoul to the SCORCHING SUMMER HEAT of the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan and the humid unrelenting jungles of Viet Nam...and lets not forget those who fought Hitler, Stalin, and all those FUN LOVING DICTATORS OF YORE...and who try to toss away if not grind under the heels of their Gucci boots the fruits of the labors of those who have come before us, and do so only for their own personal gain and to HELL with the rest of America AND the rest of we Americans INCLUDING Republicans and libertarians and their ilk.
Those who have come along like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul and John Boehner and Eric Cantor and all the rest of those smirky bastards who spew hate out of BOTH sides of their snake-like orifices...are beneath contempt because their hate and scurrilous speech is as PUTRID ACRID SPITTLE upon the graves of the BRAVE who we sing about in our National Anthem.
BUT WE SHALL PREVAIL AND SO WILL THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. For as President Obama has said and many of us have echoed....YES WE CAN and yes we will.
YES WE CAN AND YES WE WILL, BECAUSE...
AS LONG AS there are AMERICANS WHO REMEMBER that THIS
COUNTRY WAS FORGED on the flinty souls spirits and hearts of MEN and WOMEN who
KNEW OPPRESSION, HAD SUFFERED TYRANNY, AND wanted NONE of that ANY MORE and came here precisely to get away from that which many now would have us all return to...BUT, AS LONG
AS there are ENOUGH OF US who REMEMBER THEY WHO CAME BEFORE US SO LONG AGO, we will be fine.
Rough spots and hateful hearts notwithstanding inside the chests of people who know NOT of caring and loving and FEELING what it IS to BE an American.

LONG LIVE THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY AND GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
On this the anniversary of the March on Washington...where men and women of love and grit tried to stand their ground and say DISCRIMINATION IS AN ABOMINATION AND MUST GO, (BOTH BLACK AND WHITE), WE who love this country MUST stand up for it or watch it perish as so many other 'SEEMINGLY GREAT CIVILIZATIONS' have in the past.
THAT WE CANNOT AND MUST NOT EVER ALLOW TO HAPPEN, FOR IT WOULD SHAME US ALL.
IT WOULD BE TO THE ETERNAL SHAME OF ALL OF US WHO NEVER DOWN DEEP APPRECIATED WHAT WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN...FOR IF WE HAD WE COULD NOT AND WOULD NOT HAVE EVER PISSED IT ALL AWAY!
